   Warm, neutral or cool

   Warm white is the yellower end and suits living rooms, bedrooms and anywhere you want a room to feel settled in the evening. Neutral sits in the middle and works in kitchens and bathrooms. Cool white is the bluest and is best kept for task and utility spaces, where you need to see clearly rather than feel comfortable.

   Several of our pieces let you switch between all three, so you are not committing on day one.

2. 02

   Cordless or hardwired

   Rechargeable pieces go where no socket exists — a shelf, a windowsill, a dinner table outdoors. There is no cable to hide and nothing to trip over, at the cost of putting them back on charge.

   Hardwired fittings are for light that should be permanent and invisible. They need fitting by a qualified electrician in line with local regulations.

3. 03

   Getting the size right

   A flush ceiling light should read as part of the ceiling, not an object hung from it — the smaller diameters suit hallways, cupboards and landings, the larger ones a room you actually sit in.

   For corner and floor pieces, measure the height you want to fill before you choose. Our corner light runs from 30cm on a console to 200cm floor to ceiling, and the difference between those is not a detail.

4. 04

   Dimming and control

   Most of what we carry dims, but not all in the same way. Some step through fixed brightness levels on a touch base, others dim steplessly so you can set them very low — which is what you want beside a bed.

   Where a piece offers several colour temperatures, they are selected on the fitting itself and do not need a dimmer switch on the wall.

Anything that connects to mains wiring should be installed by a qualified electrician. Prices cover the piece only and do not include installation.
